Dear Grade 1A Class,
Here are some pictures of costumes that we saw in Greece.
This picture was taken at the Byzantine Museum. I’m not sure who they are. This was a mosaic. They are wearing robes because they are going to church. Maybe they are priests.
This man is cutting meat at the central market in Athens. He is wearing a white coat. It is white to show that he washes it every day.

This is at the Parthenon. He is an archeologist. He is fixing the blocks of marble. When he is finished, they will lift it with a crane to the top of the Parthenon. He is wearing white gloves on his hands.
My dad took this picture. These costumes are for flying airplanes. The man on the left wearing orange has a map in his front pocket.
This is a Samurai suit of armour. The Samarais are from Japan. They have nice swords.
This is a soldier’s armour. It is made from metal. It is strong.
This is a picture of a fire truck. A police man is talking to the fireman. The police man is wearing a white hat, a blue shirt, a white strap, black pants, white gloves and a white belt. He is a traffic police. He wears white so that everybody can see him.
These are people that run in a marathon. They are wearing running clothes. They have running shoes.
This is a picture of me! I am in Daddy’s coat, because I was being funny. Daddy says that I look like a German grandma!
This picture was taken at Playmobil Fun Park. This man is a baker. The bakers here don’t dress like this. They dress like at the Tim Hortons!
These are the King and Queen and Prince and Princess of Playmobil Fun Park. They are wearing crowns. Real kings wear crowns made from gold and silver.
This is a picture of me in my soccer uniform. This team is the Athens soccer team – like the Edmonton Oilers. They play against other teams in Europe like Manchester United.
This is a picture of me and my sister and my dad. Daddy is wearing a soccer shirt from the Greece national team (like Team Canada). My sister is wearing a pink traditional shirt for little girls.
This is statue of Emporer Hadrian. He lived 200 years after Jesus was born. He is wearing a cape and a skirt! He probably also had a sword.
This is a picture of me and costumes of a little girl with her mommy. They are wearing warm winter clothes. The clothes are made from wool.
This is a picture of 2 ladies wearing coins on their dresses!
These ladies are wearing long dresses and red hats. The style was from northern Europe.
This man is wearing a black hat and a black vest and a white shirt. He is also wearing a dress and black boots. If he was wearing pants he would look normal in Canada.
These ladies are getting married! One of them has lots of colourful ribbons on her belt. The more colours there are, the better the husband is.
Here are some more ladies. These are probably wedding costumes.
We also saw some artists. They make and paint the boats. The shop had lots of boats in it. They were all made out of driftwood. Driftwood is wood that is collected from the seashore. All of the boats have flags on them – Greek flags!
We also went to a music museum. We saw lutes and flutes, tambourines, bells, drums, and lots of others. They had headphones so you can listen to the sound of the instruments in the glass cases.
I hope that you are safe and having fun. We are still in Greece until the end of December. Check back at my blog later.
